Here there is no bell to tell the children their school is about to start in this open- air school. It is the children’s will and their desire to learn that gather them to sit on these seats.
Just in a few minutes, this open area turns into a classroom where pupils carry their seats and arrange them in rows so the class would start.
One hundred and twenty students gather here in this area. They come from their tents in the southern countryside of Idlib, specifically from the Ma’srounah camp, located 14 kilometers away from Ma’raat Al-Numan city.
Teachers volunteered to teach the children, some of whom do not know how to read or write. The only thing that could prevent them from sitting on these seats is rain!
Today, there are more than 2.5 million children out of school in Syria as a result of the war that has been going on for more than eight years now
