Atmeh Camp’s Children in Pictures: Their Tough Life in Brief

Atmeh camp is located in northern Syria, near the borders with Turkey. It is one of the largest refugee camps hosting over 100,000 Syrian displaced persons and it is no longer able to receive more.

Year by year, the situation in the camp is worsening. Most of the refugees’ tents stand derelict. They also need to be replaced and waterproofed — the actions which residents cannot afford to undertake. 

Last year, around 900 tents sunk due to heavy rain which lashed the camp in winter and resulted in soil erosion.

This incident occurs every year at the camp forcing a great number of displaced people to sleep in the open air.
