Everyone on board a Ukrainian aircraft that crashed close to Iran’s capital, Tehran, has died, Iranian state television has reported.

The head of the Emergencies Department of Iran said that there were 179 passengers and crew on board the crashed aircraft, including 147 Iranians and 32 foreigners.

Authorities initially blamed a mechanical problem for the

Crash

Ukraine’s embassy in Tehran has now gone back on that claim, saying its previous statement about the crash occurring due to a mechanical fault was not official.

Heartbreaking pictures have emerged online from the wreckage of the plane showing children’s toys and books strewn alongside body bags.
